For this project we created footprint introductions. We had to use three different types of media to design a footprint that expressed who we are. I used multiple drawings and images to describe me and what I like and enjoy. Starting in the upper left hand corner, I drew the state of South Dakota with a heart by Goodwin to signify where I was born and raised. I come from a football family so I drew the New York Giants NFL team symbol to show our favorite team. I drew an apple and the NSU symbol because I am pursuing my education degree at Northern. I drew a tractor to represent a big part of my farming family. I including a football and golf symbols because they are my favorite sport. The four people represent my dad, mom, brother and I. The dog represents my black lab Harley. Finally the turtle represents my favorite animal other than dogs. We used this activity to express ourselves and introduce ourselves to our classmates and professor.
Extension Activity
Students will also complete this activity at the start of the year. I will ask students to trace both feet and design them separately. One foot will describe them and what they like and the other foot will describe their family. I will ask them to use different materials and colors to design their feet, at least three different medias. When they students complete their feet, they will use them to introduce themselves to the class. After the introductions are done, I will hang the feet along the top of my classroom so it looks like they are "walking" around it.
